Smart Station :

Our Smart Station / circulation Assistant device converts an existing library terminal into a RFID enabled terminal for circulation functions using software and an RFID pad reader.

The RFID pad is used as a reading device and connects directly into the LMS.

It is capable of processing up to 5 items at a time.

The Circulation Assistant is used to check in and check out items and can also be used to encode new tags.

For RFID tagged items, the Circulation Assistant replaces the barcode filler to transfer the item number to the field on the LMS screen. This means that the LMS screens are still used with the added ability of processing multiple items even if the current LMS does not do so. 

The Circulation Assistant monitors all pop-up screens that alert the operator when there is an exception (eg. on hold or item to be weeded etc). 

When the pop-up screen appears the Circulation, Assistant waits until the exception is dealt with by the librarian prior to populating the information for the next item. This feature is unique to our solutions and is covered by a patent.

The Circulation Assistant software overlays a small screen over the LMS screen and toggling between issues and returns is automatic and immediate. 

When the LMS is changed from check in to checkout, the Circulation Assistant automatically synchronizes with the LMS and visually identifies the change of status. 

The synchronization of the Circulation Assistant is done via patented software that identifies whether the LMS screen is in issues or returns and switches accordingly – this means the security status is always set correctly making it the most accurate product on the market. Furthermore, If the library supports multiple tag data formats, or wishes to change from one format to another the Convert Tag function provides the utility to convert tags from one tag data format to another.

Its available as a high-powered device for multiple item processing, or a low-powered device for cataloguing. 

A shielded version is also available for processing items in small areas where you don’t want to inadvertently read adjacent tags, for example.  The Circulation Assistant can be installed in or under most non-metal bench designs.
